Police in Anambra State have arrested three persons suspected to be dealing on illegal arms and other ammunition in Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State.
Police Spokesperson in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a statement he released on Saturday.
According to him, twenty-three pump action automatic guns and 625 live cartridges were recovered from gun-runing syndicate in the state.
He said: “The breakthrough followed weeks of intensive surveillance by operatives of the command.
“A total of 23 automatic pump action guns and 625 live cartridges were recovered.
“So far, three suspects have been arrested in Onitsha while investigation is being expanded.”
Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has commended the operatives involved in the operation, saying that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, also provided guidance throughout the duration of the operation.
