28,137 bags 5 credit in Math, Eng in NABTEB examination

The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has said that 28,137 candidates scored five credit and above including Mathematics and English Language in the November/December examination of the board.

The Registrar, Prof (Mrs) Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, who revealed this while announcing the result of NABTEB’s ordinary and advanced craft certificate examinations, said the figures represents 71,27 percent of the candidates who sat for the examinations.

She added: “a total of 37,476 candidates obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics, representing 94.93 of the candidates who sat for the examinations.”

She explained a total of 43,594 consisting of 26,004 males and 17,590 candidates registered for the examinations in 1,746 centres across country.

Prof (Mrs) Ifeoma further disclosed that the board has commenced electronic process of issuing certificate to candidates on-line, adding that the board has also made available electronic certificates of previous examinations conducted by the board

The Registrar also disclosed that about 246 candidates that sat for the examination were caught in
malpractice during the examination.

“Analysis of the enrolment for the 2023 NBC/NTC O level examinations indicate that 14 candidates registered for Engineering Trades, Construction Trades 7, Miscellaneous Trades 8, Business Trades 4 and General Education Subjects 21.

“At the advance level, 13 candidates registered for Engineering Trades, Construction Trades 7, Miscellaneous Trades 7 , Business Trades 4 and General Education Subjects, totally 89 trades and subjects at both ordinary and advance level” she said..

The register listed inadequate technical schools, lack of technical manpower, dearth of teachers, increasing cost of material, inadequate funding for TEVT programs among others as some of the challenges facing the agency
