The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has disclosed that the party has opted for a consensus approach in its choice of a presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 poll.
Abdullahi made the disclosure during an appearance on ‘One-on-One’, an Arise TV programme, on Saturday.
He stated that the ADC could choose either direct primaries or consensus for electing its presidential candidate, noting that indirect primaries are “no longer on the table”, according to the amended Electoral Act.

According to him, the party’s best option is a consensus.
“We are trying as much as possible to adopt the consensus approach because that is the least costly for us.
“For us, the best case scenario is to be able to engineer consensus, and that’s what we are working on,” Abdullahi stated.
