A pro-Tinubu political organisation, Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), has unveiled a major Southeast mobilisation drive with the installation of former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, as National Grand Patron, and veteran Imo politician, Chief Longers Anyanwu, as Ambassador.
The appointments, announced at a recent installation ceremony, mark RHGN’s most aggressive opening move yet to shore up support for President Bola Tinubu in the Southeast ahead of the 2027 general election.
Senator Anyim, who served as Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, brings decades of political capital and cross-party networks across the Igbo political establishment.
His acceptance of the National Grand Patron role is being read by observers as a signal of RHGN’s intent to engage credible, homegrown voices rather than rely solely on outsider messaging.
Chief Longers Anyanwu, a long-serving Imo political operator known for grassroots organisation, was named Ambassador. RHGN officials said his role will focus on ward-level mobilisation, youth engagement, and bridging gaps between community leaders and the Tinubu administration’s policy agenda.

Speaking at the event, RHGN National Convener, Hon. Calistus Anyanwu, said the group has already activated structures in the five Southeast states, targeting ward executives, community development associations, and youth groups.
He defended the administration’s reform agenda, arguing that economic changes are “beginning to yield visible transformation” at the state level.
“The Southeast must not be on the sidelines of national renewal,” Anyanwu said. “With leaders like Senator Anyim and Chief Longers on board, we have the credibility and the structure to deliver results in 2027.”
Political analysts note that securing buy-in from figures of Anyim’s stature could help RHGN reframe the Southeast’s relationship with the Tinubu presidency, where the region has been largely opposition-leaning since 2023. The group’s emphasis on local penetration, rather than top-down campaigning, aligns with a broader APC strategy to expand its base beyond traditional strongholds.
RHGN said it will roll out town hall engagements and policy sensitisation in the coming weeks, with NELFUND and infrastructure projects expected to feature prominently in its outreach.
