2027: Peter Obi can’t defeat Tinubu in Lagos a second time – Sunday Dare

Sunday Dare

Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will reclaim Lagos State in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that Peter Obi no longer poses a significant political challenge to the administration.

Dare made the remarks during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast, where he dismissed claims that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate remains a major threat to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to him, the Tinubu administration is relying on its record in office rather than political calculations, arguing that its reforms and policy initiatives have strengthened public confidence.

“This government is not afraid of Peter Obi. He is not a nightmare to our government. Maybe before, Peter Obi was a threat, but right now, he is no threat because we stand on the solid ground of performance,” Dare said.

He maintained that the administration has spent the past three years confronting Nigeria’s economic and governance challenges through policy reforms, saying those efforts have produced measurable results.

“We have been able to interrogate the problems of this country. Decisions are being taken, policies are being unfolded across the country, and we have a scorecard to show,” he stated.

Dare also took a swipe at Obi’s public commentary, arguing that many of his responses to national issues fail to address the questions posed to him directly.

He said some of Obi’s interviews leave listeners confused because of what he described as indirect and overly detailed answers.

Looking ahead to the next presidential election, the presidential aide argued that Obi’s surprise victory over Tinubu in Lagos during the 2023 poll would not be repeated.

“Peter Obi defeated President Tinubu in Lagos in 2023. This is 2027; he can’t defeat Tinubu again in Lagos,” Dare asserted.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s performance in office would ultimately shape voter decisions and strengthen Tinubu’s prospects at the polls in 2027.
