2027: Obidient Movement launches PVC drive for members

Obidient Movement

From Idu  Jude, Abuja

The leadership of the Obidient Movement said it is doing everything possible to ensure that millions of its followers, alongside other Nigerians nationwide, obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This, the group said, followed the commencement of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) nationwide voter registration exercise in preparation for the polls.

National Coordinator of the movement, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, disclosed this yesterday, while briefing the press on the group’s resolve to take the necessary steps to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Highlighting some of the new campaign strategies adopted by the movement, Dr. Yunusa said they were in response to the urgent national clamour for the rescue of the country and the birth of a “New Nigeria.”

He said: “The Obidient Movement is excited to announce the launch of a new campaign slogan: ‘A New Nigeria is Possible, Get Your PVC & GO MERD.’

“The GO MERD acronym which stands for ‘Get Organised, Make Election Rigging Difficult,’ underscores our new focus as we head into the 2027 election season.”

Speaking further, he emphasised that the group plans to mobilise millions of Nigerians into organised voting blocs, ensure every eligible citizen has a PVC, and protect the integrity of the 2027 elections.

“We intend to protect the integrity of the 2027 elections and ensure more Nigerians participate in the democratic process. The GO MERD campaign has a straightforward mission, which is that in every polling unit across Nigeria, every Obidient will either lead or join a voting bloc of at least 100 Nigerians in their polling unit. We will work to achieve 100 percent PVC ownership in each bloc.

“We will go door-to-door, help people get to registration points and recruit 1,500 values-based leaders to run for office under the Obidient platform.

“In 2027, we will turn out en masse to vote out bad leaders, defend the process with one million trained vote protectors, and use technology, real-time reporting and proactive resistance to make rigging unattractive and dangerous for politicians and institutions who delight in thwarting the people’s mandate.”

According to him, the movement believes a new Nigeria is one where food is affordable, communities are secure, healthcare works, education equips young people for the future, rural areas are connected to markets, women have equal opportunities, businesses grow without harassment and the diaspora can return home with pride.

“For our children, it is about building a country where patriotism is not a burden, but a thing of joy.

I call on every Obidient and every Nigerian who believes in a better future to take part in this campaign. Do not leave it for others,” he said.

He appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to obtain their PVCs or help at least 10 others to get theirs, join or create a voting bloc at Obidients.com, mobilise friends, neighbours, colleagues and family to register and volunteer as ‘Vote Defenders’ in their polling units for the 2027 elections.
