Youth organisations under the umbrella of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have thrown their weight behind the Independent National Electoral Commission, cautioning political parties against actions capable of distracting the electoral body ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The groups urged politicians to respect court rulings and allow INEC to concentrate on preparations for the forthcoming polls.
Speaking during a solidarity visit to INEC in Abuja, NYCN President Babangida Onimisi Isah said the move was driven by the collective interest of Nigerian youths, not partisan considerations. He warned against dragging the commission into political disputes.
Isah also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as developmental strides and efforts at promoting youth inclusion in governance.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, noting that the commission has shown commitment to upholding the rule of law.
According to him, no political party is greater than INEC or the nation, stressing that Nigeria’s unity must come before partisan interests. He added that ongoing reforms by the current administration are aimed at steering the country toward progress.
The NYCN leader further advised political parties to resolve internal disputes through the courts rather than involving INEC in matters outside its mandate.
Reaffirming their commitment to peace and national unity, the youth groups urged INEC to remain firm in its decisions while commending the federal government and the Kogi State Government for aligning with youth-friendly policies.
