Fayose explained his decision to contest the Federal Constituency seat is to translate his political experience into federal legislative representation anchored on the need to provide practical and measurable representation that would directly improve the lives of his constituents.
He said his ambition goes beyond securing a legislative seat, describing the bid as a movement aimed at returning governance to the people and ensuring that the constituency benefits meaningfully from federal representation.
According to him, Ekiti is at a critical crossroads that requires bold leadership, integrity and a legislative voice capable of articulating and defending the aspirations of the people.
He said: “This National Assembly bid is not merely a campaign for a seat; it is a movement to restore governance to the people, drive impactful policy reforms, and secure sustainable development for our constituency.”
Fayose said his vision for the constituency would be anchored on four major pillars: robust advocacy, rigorous oversight, resource attraction and citizens inclusion.
On robust advocacy, he pledged to champion legislation and policies capable of stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities and improving the livelihoods of constituents.
He also promised to deploy rigorous oversight in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities, stressing the need for elected representatives to hold government agencies accountable and ensure that public resources are deployed responsibly.
According to him, effective representation must also translate into the attraction of federal resources and projects to the constituency. He therefore identified resource attraction as a key component of his agenda, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare and other critical development needs.
The fourth pillar, citizens inclusion, is designed to strengthen direct communication between the representative and the people. Fayose promised to establish regular town-hall meetings where constituents would have the opportunity to express their concerns, contribute ideas and participate in shaping the issues that would inform his legislative positions.
The candidate maintained that genuine representation should not be based on wealth, inheritance or political bargaining, but on service, competence, empathy and a clear understanding of governance.
He said his candidacy offers the constituency a fresh perspective and a leadership approach focused on translating democratic representation into tangible benefits for the people.
“True representation cannot be bought, bartered, or inherited. It must be earned through consistent service, deep empathy, and a clear understanding of policy dynamics,” he stated.
The ADC chieftain further emphasised the importance of professional competence in navigating the complexities of the National Assembly, noting that effective legislation requires representatives who understand policy processes and can effectively advocate for their constituents.
The candidate called on residents and stakeholders across Ado and Irepodun/ Ifelodun local governments to make a conscious choice for what he described as a new era of accountable, inclusive and development-oriented representation.
He argued that meaningful change would not happen by accident, but through deliberate choice by citizens at the polls.
“Real change never happens by chance; it happens by choice. We must reject the stagnant politics of the past and embrace a future built on equity, accountability, and shared prosperity,” he said.
The candidate who said his bid targets to rewrite the collective future of his people, called on them to join his political movement and support his ambition to represent them at the National Assembly. He promised to work towards building a stronger constituency and contributing to the development of Ekiti State and Nigeria.
Evaluating the performance of the current lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I, Hon. Sola Fatoba, who has been representing his constituents for two consecutive terms, and is seeking re-election for a third term in office, Fayose submitted that Fatoba’s third term agenda should be rejected by the people, stressing that the scorecard of the incumbent lawmaker’s two terms in office did not justify another term.
Fayose who criticised Fatoba over what he described as the alleged abandonment of constituency projects and unfulfilled empowerment initiatives across the constituency, said the lawmaker does not deserve a third term in office.
Fayose further alleged that several projects and empowerment initiatives attributed to Fatoba had either been abandoned or were yet to be executed, despite representations made to communities where the projects were expected to be delivered.
According to him, the constituents should be able to point to tangible projects and measurable interventions as evidence of effective legislative representation after two terms in office.
“After two terms in office, our people deserve to see tangible projects that directly improve their lives.”
Underscoring the need for effective representation in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, the candidate consequently called on constituents to reject what he called the “third-term agenda” of Fatoba, urging voters to critically assess the incumbent’s performance before deciding on the next representative for the constituency.
“Fatoba’s performance does not justify another term, The lawmaker has failed to deliver quality representation. He does not deserve a third term. The people of Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Governments should assess Fatoba’s record before deciding who should represent them.”
Fayose argued that legislative representation should go beyond occupying a seat at the National Assembly, stressing that elected representatives have a responsibility to attract development, facilitate empowerment opportunities and remain accountable to the people.
He maintained that the people of Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas, which make up the constituency, deserve quality representation that delivers visible and sustainable dividends of democracy.
Fayose therefore urged residents to examine the projects, programmes and interventions delivered during the incumbent’s tenure and make their decision based on verifiable performance rather than political sentiments.
While rejecting Fatoba’s bid for a third term, Fayose said the forthcoming political contest should provide an opportunity for constituents to demand a higher standard of accountability and representation.
He called on the people to support what he termed as a new direction in legislative representation, anchored on responsiveness, accountability, development and direct engagement with constituents.
With the campaign team rallying support around the slogan “Support the Future, Support Otunba Emmanuel Fayose for Better Representation,” the campaign is positioning Fayose as a candidate offering a people-focused alternative for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1.
