National Leader of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu would lose massively in a free and fair contest in 2027.

He said the ruling party has been alienated from Nigerians by virtue of poor performance.

Dickson said this during an appearance on ‘Sunday Politics’ programme on Channels TV.

He said, “As leader of the NDC, and as a Nigerian who knows the feelings and yearnings of Nigerians, and who also knows that their aspirations have not been met, we believe that the APC government, the APC as a party, not just the President, will be defeated massively.”

The Bayelsa West senator said the democratic space must be open and all political parties allowed to participate without interference.

“Allow every party that wants to contest. You can only defeat them in an electoral contest. So, let us have a free and fair election,” he stated.

The ex-Bayelsa governor expressed hope that a coalition arrangement between opposition parties would materialise before the polls.

“As an opposition leader, our party, the NDC, will be open to conversations within that space.

“We hope that whatever discussions take place will lead to the NDC candidates being backed because we know the value of the candidates we are putting forward,” he stated.

However, he maintained that the NDC was not claiming superiority over any other party, emphasising that the party remains open to discussions to strengthen the opposition ahead of the polls.
