2027: Akpodoro congratulates Oborevwori, Okowa, others on APC victory

The Mayor of Urhoboland and head of the association of Urhobo Mayoral Family Crown (AUMFC), Eshanekpe Agimor Israel, popularly known as Akpodoro, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on his successful screening and emergence as the unopposed All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement signed and issued by the Mayor, congratulations were also extended to all successful APC candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly. Among those felicitated was former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who secured the ticket for the Delta North Senatorial District in the recently concluded party nominations.

The Mayor noted that the governor’s victory is deeply rooted in his exemplary, visionary leadership and consistent service delivery to the state.

He said Oborevwori’s ability to foster peace and harmony across Delta’s heterogeneous ethnic groups has earned him immense goodwill, alongside his widespread developmental strides.

Dr. Israel remarked that in the political history of Delta State, Oborevwori stands out as a leader whose second-term bid faced no internal opposition.

This, he said, demonstrates that Deltans are deeply appreciative of an administration that has elevated human capital and infrastructural development to new heights.

Using the symbolic imagery of the party, Akpodoro called on the Governor to remain inclusive and bring all political players in the state together under the “single broom” of the APC.

According to the Mayor, it takes a pragmatic, charismatic, and visionary leader to achieve a feat where the populace and party stakeholders unanimously back an incumbent without opposition. Expressing optimism for the future, Akpodoro stated his confidence that the governor holds an even grander developmental blueprint to transform the state during his second term, urging residents to rally massively behind the administration.

He highlighted that the governor successfully defeated ethnic and tribal politics to emerge as the party’s flagbearer—a milestone he attributed to a pro-masses agenda that has generated organic followership.

In the same vein, Dr. Israel urged the legislative candidates to emulate the governor’s dedication by shunning transactional politics, greed, and avarice.

He emphasised that their primary focus should be triggering rapid development, particularly in human capital, and urged them to work hard to earn the trust of their constituents ahead of the general polls.

Akpodoro also advised the candidates to ensure that vital constituency projects are visible across various communities, noting that occasional handouts do not add sustainable value to the lives of citizens compared to durable infrastructure and skill development.
