For the Changan brand, the year 2025, like the end of the previous year, 2024, ended on a very upbeat note, with several awards for its vehicles and partners, primarily in the Nigerian, Italian and Saudi Arabian markets.
Pending an official statement, Changan is believed to have come close to meeting (if it hasn’t met) its target of selling 3,000,000 units across the world in 2025, with new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounting for most of the sales.
Changan is believed to have listed it best sales performance in years.
Interestingly, the year 2026 has also commenced on a similarly exciting note. The latest news on Changan shows rapid global expansion, tremendous progress with new energy vehicles and advancements in technology,
Recent highlights, including launching the Deepal S05 in Europe from the sutomaker’s Thailand plant, securing major funding for Deepal, and developing advanced tech like rotary engines and L3 self-driving, were remarkable successes of the outgone year
In terms of global year-on-year (YoY) sales, as stated earlier, the total figures for 2025 are yet to be officially announced by Changan Auto, but if the performance in the various months were anything to go by, then the brand is not too far from selling about 3,000,000 vehicles.
This will include sales of various SUV and sedan models by Mikano Motors Ltd, the Changan Auto authorised sole assembler and distributor in the Nigerian market.
In 2025, Changan Automobile experienced continued year-on-year sales growth globally, with a 5.75 percent increase in February sales with the overall performance said to be very impressive
Overseas sales, specifically, have seen substantial growth in various markets.
Changan Auto’s sales performance in 2025 has been robust, continuing an upward trend seen in previous years.
Specific markets like Thailand and Kazakhstan saw massive YoY increases in September 2025 (+366.5% and +136.7 percent, respectively).
Changan’s strategy for 2025 and beyond involves the establishment of new international factories and a target of 1.5 million units sold overseas annually by 2030.
Recent awards, recognitions, 2024-2025
Changan Auto, through its partner in Nigeria, Mikano Motors, where 2024 on a winning note when it received the prestigious Nigeria Car of the Year award for the beautiful Changan CS55.
The award was presented to Mikano Motors by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in December, 2024.
Exactly one year after, in December, 2025, the CS55 was again adjudged the Midsize SUV of the Year (2025): by NAJA at the awards night members organised at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
At the same NAJA Awards night, Changan’s local partner and assembler, Mikano Motors, was declared the “Auto Company of the Year”
In the Middle East, the Changan “UNI-S” won the “Best Mid-Size SUV award in Saudi Arabia, recognised for its design, technology, and fuel efficiency.
The Changan UNI-K was honored with the “Feature-Rich SUV of the Year” title at the TAS Business Awards in Oman, also in the Middle East..
During the Turin Auto Show in September 2025, in Italy, Changan won two honours: the Deepal S05 model received the “Best Human-Centric Intelligent Integration” award, and the Deepal S07 model won the “Best Exterior Design” award.
Also at the Turin Auto Show, Deepal L07 model was awarded the prestigious “Golden A’ Design Award” in the Car and Land Based Motor Vehicles Design Category.
The Changan Deepal S05 was a winner of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2025.
Motorworld, a distributor of Changan vehicles, received the “Progress of the Year” award from Changan Auto in recognition of its performance and growth in the Caribbean market.
