2023: The Journey to Aso-rock and why Enugu has become a Mecca of Sort.

In the past couple of weeks, there have been spiritual footages of men of God, of highly regarded and foremost religious bodies across the world, thronging Enugu State, to catch a glimpse of the wonders of the white Lion (our dearest Governor) and as well, hold their missionary programs in the State.

Symbolically, at each visitation, these God’s Generals (Bishops of different denominations), would laud Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s leadership imprints, extol his wisdom, brilliance, intelligence, creativity in governance; and above all, they would eulogize the number one citizen of the State for his ability to trudge on, even when the economically bourgeoning states across the federation had halted most government activities, owing to economic impasse.

And afterwards, these religious leaders would pay a visit to Enugu State Government House Chapel, where they offer prayers for Nigeria.

The clergies would not stop there, they would also pray and pour spiritual libations, blessings on the lands of Enugu, its Governor and the elated people of the State. And above all, they would from Enugu (which is the heart of Eastern region), ask God almighty, to heal Nigeria from the many challenges it is currently emersed into. And this reader would never stop to ponder on why the choice of Enugu state for prayers offered for Nigeria, as the nation prepares for 2023 general elections.

However, just a few days ago, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, during the 9th National Convention of the Church, holding in Enugu, had prayed in like manners, while carefully explaining the reason for Enugu for their missionary program.

His words below.

“You (Ugwuanyi) have been promoting your works, we are proud of you. You are making the Igbo man proud. You are making Nigeria proud and I don’t expect anything less because you occupy the seat of Michael Okpara who happened to be the leader of all the Igbos.

“Enugu is a home for all Igbo and we know it. Under you, Enugu is peaceful and we are very happy. We have enjoyed your love, your kindness, your mercy and the Methodists are proud to be here.

“Let me tell you one of the motivating factors for bringing this gathering to Enugu. I brought them to our regional capital; I brought them to Enugu to come and enjoy the beauty of Enugu and we have been experiencing peace and cool weather here.”

Can we now, see why Enugu has becoming a Mecca of Sort?

In my last opinion article of last month, with the title, “Enugu: A state agreeably thrusted in the Hands of God by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi”, I had run the rule on the spiritual significance of another major spiritual exercise, tagged, “the Second Plenary Meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN)”, held at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Ogui, Enugu, on Sunday, 22nd of August, 2021, where the Papal Nuncio, Antonio Guido Filipazzi, Francis Cardinal Arinze; the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke; among others were in attendance.

In that piece, I had written that expectedly, the leadership of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Methodist Church of Nigeria, will also visit the Enugu State Government House Chapel to offer prayers. And if you ask me why the choice of Enugu, of all the states in the country, I will simply answer that it is because “Enugu State”, under Governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi, “is in the hands of God!”

I will not take this analogy a notch higher as expected by this reader. No. I will not. The language of the spirit is only decipherable to a few individual. And as such, for 2023 Presidential journey and what I strongly know about his Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( the man behind the Masks)the executive Governor of Enugu State, remains what the scripture has clearly written in the book of Ezekiel 21:27 (the living Bible) when the Lord said: “I will overturn, overturn, overturn the kingdom, so that even the new order that emerges will not succeed until the Man appears who has a right to it. And I will give it all to him”
Surely, Enugu State is truly in the hands of God! All glory to the Most!
