Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, Mr Yekini Ayoku, has promised to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to deliver free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
He added: “The command arrested 50 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and rescued 76 victims from bandits in their hideouts on the Funtua-Zaria Road.
“The command is ready for the elections. We have trained and retrained officers on how to conduct themselves before, during and after the elections. We are ready and we will work with the INEC to ensure it delivers free, fair and credible elections.
“We have met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner. We are fully prepared for the elections. We want other security agencies to cooperate with the police and INEC to have fair, free and credible elections.”
Ayoku advised the political actors especially candidates to shun violence and play the game according to rules: “It will be a grave mistake to attempt to test the will and capacity of the police command in strictly enforcing the relevance electoral cum criminal laws on offenders.
“The command and other security agencies had meeting with the stakeholders. We asked for their support and cooperation before, during and after the election. We have started creating awareness. We are determined to ensure that Kaduna State is safe and peaceful for the conduct of credible elections.”
