Bassey, Uzoho may miss second leg tie

The SuperEagles preparation for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau has suffered a major set back, with the duo of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and defender Calvin Bassey at risk of missing second leg of the qualifier. The two players may miss the second leg match against Guinea Bissau should they be booked in the first leg tie in Abuja. in the last game against Sierra Leone in Abuja.

Bassey received a yellow card in the 82nd minute in the previous game against Sierra Leone, and four minutes later, Uzoho also picked up a yellow card.

According to article 42.1 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, a player who receives two warning cards in the series, will be automatically suspended from the following match.

The two players featured prominently on the list of invited players released by coach Jose Peseiro.

Nigeria will host the first leg at MKO Abiola stadium before travelling to Guinea Bissau for the second leg a few days later.
