In readiness for the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, a pressure group under the aegis of Anambra State Equity Alliance (ANSEA) from Anambra South Senatorial district has initiated strategies to ensure that the next governor of the state emerges from the zone.
The group, yesterday, inaugurated its Aguata local government and ward executives at Trivoli Hotel, Isuofia in Aguata Council Area, where the zonal coordinator, Chief Ikechukwu Emelike told journalists that his group had resolved to deliver the next Governor of the State from Anambra South no matter the odds and irrespective of the political party.
Chief Emelike said the resolution was for the interest of equity, justice, and fairness. He cited former Governor Peter Obi and Senator Chris Ngige from Anambra Central who had held Anambra governorship positions for a total of eleven years, Anambra North finishing eight years in the sitting Governor, Willie Obiano and barely nine years sprinkled on former Governors Chinweoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Andy Ubah and Virgy Etiaba.
Emelike noted that in the spirit of equity no other zone in the State should pose as an obstacle to Anambra South from having the slot this time around.
State Chairman of the group, Adigwe Chukwunenye who incidentally hails from Awka in Anambra Central said he joined Anambra South in its struggle to produce the next Governor as a lover of equitable distribution of political power.
Chukwunenye insisted that it would be unfair for any other zone in the State to rise against the demand of Anambra South.
He warned members against sabotage in pursuit of the objective, urging them to work diligently to become result-oriented.
