The Anambra State government, on Tuesday, said that it has developed an effective work plan that would foster speedy and efficient implementation of the 2017 budget of the state up to 90 per cent. The budget was estimated at N115 billion.
This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Mr. Mark Okoye, at a 4-day training on Strategic Planning and Results-Based Budgeting holding at Finotel Hotel, Awka. It’s organized by the ministry in collaboration with State and Local Governance Reform Project (SLOGOR); a World Bank project funded by the European Union.
He disclosed that with the new strategy different from what used to be, the budget implementation is expected to hit 100 per cent before the year runs out.
“Immediately the budget was passed” he said, “we got one of the development partners, UNICEF in particular, to sponsor a retreat for us in Tinapa, Cross River State. There, we prepared an implementation work plan that would aid effective and far-reaching implementation.”
“That budget is only makes you know how much we are going to spend on each area but the implementation work plan attaches timeline to all those activities, as well as its respective economic impacts on the state.”
