The  Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected vandal on the Third Mainland Bridge, while tampering with essential road safety installations.

The arrest was made by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the command who were on duty protecting critical public infrastructure and keeping road users safe in the  state,

Lagos state police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi said the suspect, Dogara John, 18 , was caught in the act of removing reflective road studs installed on the bridge to improve visibility and guide motorists, especially at night and during poor weather conditions.

“A search carried out at the scene led to the recovery of 20  of theswe reflective studs in his possession. These road studs play a vital role in helping drivers stay on course and in preventing accidents, particularly on a busy route like the Third Mainland Bridge.”

Commissioner of Police( CP) Tijani Fatai, has reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for vandalism and any form of damage to public infrastructure.

He noted that such actions do  not only endanger lives but also undermine ongoing efforts to maintain safety and order across the state.

He further urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities, particularly around public infrastructure, to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
