Seventeen passengers have died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Yaura village along Wudil -Bauchi Express Way in Kano State.
A statement issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps and signed by the Sector Commandant, Abdullahi Sallau Ibrahim said the accident which happened this afternoon also injured three other passengers..
According to the statement, the accident involved a Honda vehicle with registration number NSR 81 VW and a Sharon bus with registration number. NNG 275 XA .
He explained that the accident happened at about 2.45 pm adding that upon the receipt of the report, he promptly dispatched his officers to the scene of the crash.
He blamed the accident on excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking, saying they led to loss of control on the part of the drivers and a head on collision, which caused the collided vehicles to burst in flame.
The accident involved a total of 22 passengers, adding that 11 adult males, five adult females and one male child lost their lives, while one adult male, two adult female sustained injuries. .
The statement confirmed that the injured were conveyed to Wudil General Hospital while the remains of the deceased victims were handed over to their relatives.
