A member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Ikuomola Adeleke, on election duty sustained injury in Itire during a fight with a commercial bus driver recruited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to move election materials to polling units.

The incident occurred in Itire area of Lagos.

The driver, Salaudeen hit the corps member in the nose during an argument.

It was learnt that corps members had allegedly barricaded the gate to the headquarters of Mushin Local Government to protest the non-payment of the allowance owes them by INEC.

It was gathered that the corps members were allegedly instigated by some ad-hoc staff of INEC who were also being owed their allowances.

On hearing the assault on the corps member, the Area Commander in charge of Area D Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olasuji Akinbayo, swiftly moved in and arrested the driver.

He also took the corps member to an undisclosed hospital where he was treated at the expense of the ACP, while the driver is being detained at the Area Command headquarters in Mushin.
