One person was feared dead yesterday in a fatal accident involving three lorries at the Nkalagu end of Abakaliki- Enugu Expressway, Enugu.
It was also gathered that four persons sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident.
Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki on the road mishap, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nkalagu, Mr. Kehinde Ayuba, said the accident was caused by officials of a task-force on food operating on the highway.
“The task force officials suddenly stopped one of the lorries heading towards Abakaliki and another lorry on top speed, rammed into it.
“The lorry was conveying bundles of iron and pieces of iron which pierced through the one at the rear,” he said.
Ayuba noted that the second lorry, due to poor visibility, collided with another lorry heading towards Enugu in the morning.
“The corpse of the victim had been deposited at the Ezzamgbo General Hospital and the injured victims are receiving treatment at the Annunciation Hospital in Enugu,” he added.
