•Passenger found with 100 used diapers

One person died while three others were rescued in a multiple auto crash in Lagos.
One of the passengers in the vehicle, suspected to be a ritualist, was found with 100 used children’s diapers and a large sum of money.
The accident victims were rescued by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who handed the suspected ritualist to the Lagos State Police Command.
The accident occurred at the Mosalasi Round-About, inward Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, said Akanji Wasiu (Bravo 16), who led the rescue operations confirmed that the accident involved three vehicles: Mazda commercial bus with registration number: FKJ 88 XH; Tricycle (Keke Marwa) with registration number KJA 369 QM, and a white Camry car with number plate: KJA 351 HG, on main carriage way at Iyana-Ipaja.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a white Camry car lost control due to over speeding and hit a commercial tricycle from the rear, while the tricycle went off balance and obstructed another upcoming fully loaded Mazda commercial bus going to Iyana-Ipaja.
“The rescued victims were immediately rushed to different hospitals by their relatives, but, unfortunately, one of the rescued accident victims, a male, reportedly died on the road to hospital.
“Those vehicles involved in the accident were immediately removed from the road to avoid impeding free flow of traffic and handed over to the policemen from Gowon Estate Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigations.
“One of the passengers inside the commercial tricycle involved in the accident, who was caught with more than 100 pieces of used small children ‘diapers/pampers with huge sums of money in different denominations, was immediately handed over to policemen at the scene of the accident.”
The General Manager, LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, said it was a ‘man-made’ accident, which could have been prevented, if over-speeding was avoided.
