‎Ondo: Tension as residents prepare to elect a state governor today

The tension in Ondo has reached fever pitch as residents ‎of the state prepare to elect a governor.
As four major candidates, and‎ 24 others prepare to battle for the top job in the state, there are fears that the polls may turn bloody.
The candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, the Alliance for Democracy(AD) Olusola Oke, yesterday, raised the alarm of alleged plot to rig by the All Progressives Candidate (APC). Both candidates yesterday, told their supporters to resist any form of rigging, saying whoever ‘rigs would roast’.
‎In Owo, the hometown of the candidate of the APC, Rotimi Akeredolu, one person was reportedly killed during a clash between the supporters of the APC and the PDP.
Properties were reportedly destroyed in the clash while several people also sustained injuries.
The victim was identified as Arogun, an APC chieftain in the area. According to witnesses the clash occurred following Jegede’s visit to Owo for a campaign. There were also clashes in Iselu and Ehinogbe last Thursday.
