Zulum kicks off N7.9bn 3rd flyover in Maiduguri

Borno governor, Babagana Zulum, has kicked off a N7 9 billion flyover in Maiduguri, the third of such facility in six years in the state capital.
Zulum while flagging off the construction of the flyover on Saturday said it was designed to ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.
“This flyover is to reduce congestion in the city. This is another one after the two completed ones. We shall continue to work,” he disclosed
He said the project was in fulfillment of his campaigns promise to ensure urban renewal of towns in Borno especially Maiduguri, the state capital.
He said the construction expected to be complete in a year, would provide job opportunities for many youths. He said about N4 billion had been paid to the contractors, maintaining that there won’t be contract variation.
Commissioner for Works, Engr Mustapha Gubio, said the contract for the flyover was signed last week. He explained the facility spans 472 meters length while the length of the bridge will be 5.5 metres long.
He assured that adequate arrangement had been put in place for control of traffic in the area throughout the period of the construction.
