The newly deployed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Bassey Ewah, has officially assumed duty at the Zone 11 Headquarters in Osogbo, taking charge of policing operations across Osun and Oyo States.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Ojedele Tunji, the new AIG officially took office on September 14.
Hailing from the Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, AIG Ewah was born on July 28, 1968. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and began his career with the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on May 18, 1992.
According to the statement, AIG Ewah is a seasoned and versatile officer, who brings extensive strategic and operational experience to his new role.
His previous leadership assignments, according to the statement, include:
Assistant Inspector-General of Police: Zone 15, Maiduguri; Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command; Deputy Commandant, Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja;
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) & Second-in-Command, Lagos State Command.
He was said or have completed numerous professional, tactical, and executive leadership courses both locally and internationally.
Key trainings, according to Zonal PRO, include the Advanced Detective Course (ADC), Tactical Leadership Course at the Staff College (2010), and specialized Police Mobile Force training at Gwoza, covering Unit Commander, Second-in-Command, and Squadron Commander operational levels.
Reassuring residents across Osun and Oyo States, the zonal police spokesperson affirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, upholding law and order, and fostering strong stakeholder partnerships to enhance public safety.
