The Zamfara State government has finalised preparations to airlift pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj, announced Sheikh Mohammed Almufty, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, during an interview with journalists in Gusau on April 22.

Almufty confirmed that arrangements are in place for a seamless pilgrimage, with Governor Dauda Lawal approving Hajj seats for key stakeholders, including Islamic clerics, welfare officials, healthcare personnel, government representatives, and journalists covering the event.

He stated, “As the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, I can confirm that the Executive Governor has allocated Hajj seats to seven members of the Council of Ulamas and other clerics who will guide our pilgrims through the Hajj rites.”

He added, “All necessary steps have been taken to enlighten and prepare our pilgrims to perform the Hajj in line with Islamic teachings. The involvement of clerics is crucial in ensuring a spiritually fulfilling experience.”

Almufty noted that the governor will soon announce the Amirul Hajj, who will lead Zamfara’s delegation to Saudi Arabia.

The 2025 Hajj is expected to occur from 4 to 9 June, subject to lunar sightings.
