Indeed, if diplomacy had a red carpet, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar would be on the centre stage.

In just two years, Nigeria’s suave Minister of Foreign Affairs has rewritten the script on what global representation should look like: confident, visionary and irresistibly polished.

Under his watch, Nigeria is not just participating in the global conversation, it is setting the tone. Tuggar’s brand of diplomacy fuses intellect with flair, turning conference lounges and summits into stages where Nigeria dazzles with purpose and precision.

When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu introduced his 4D —Democracy, Development, Diaspora and Demography— Foreign Policy Doctrine, Tuggar did not just implement it, he brought it to life. The 4D became the pillars of a vibrant new Nigerian presence that the world cannot ignore. From securing multi-billion-dollar investments with India, the Netherlands and Brazil to putting Nigeria on BRICS and G20 guest lists, Tuggar’s global rounds have been nothing short of blockbuster diplomacy. His recent meeting with French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot was another power move, sealing partnerships across technology, agriculture, culture and innovation while reaffirming Nigeria as West Africa’s anchor of stability. He is equally a champion of humanity.

Tuggar has ensured the safe return of stranded Nigerians, opened scholarship channels across continents, and launched the Nigerians in Diaspora Database, connecting thousands of global citizens back to their roots. Perhaps his most dazzling stroke is cultural. Tuggar led the charge for the return of the iconic Benin Bronzes and turned the Ministry’s Exhibition Atrium into a cultural jewel in Abuja, celebrating Nigeria’s artistry and heritage before international audiences.

The 2025 West Africa Economic Summit was another showcase of his star power. With Presidents, CEOs and creatives filling up Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, for two days of action, deal-making and celebration, Tuggar’s ministry sealed multi-billion-dollar agreements and a landmark trade pact with Benin Republic, placing Nigeria at the centre of regional commerce and creativity.

But behind this diplomatic glamour lies substance. Tuggar is digitising consular services, modernising foreign missions and running one of the most transparent and efficient ministries in government.

Under him, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has become a model of innovation and accountability, Today, Nigeria’s global image is radiant once again, confident, cultured and connected.

And at the heart of it stands Tuggar, the Bauchi-born astute diplomat who has given Nigeria a stylish new voice on the world stage.
