The Commissioner of Police Delta State, Mr. Wale Abass, has announced measures to sustain peace and security before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.

Sunday Sun learnt that police personnel had been massively deployed across the length and breadth of the state to provide adequate security.

Specifically, he said the operatives would be paying sufficient attention at all celebration locations, particularly shopping centres and other resort areas through visible policing.

According to him, the police will also focus on special crime awareness and prevention operations, as well as targeting crimes common at the festive season.

He directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, to deploy their men to guarantee the safety of all citizens and the success of all the celebration-related events.

Mr. Abass seized the opportunity to urge “members of the public to remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times to avoid being easy prey for crooks who may want to take advantage of this period, which is typically marked by social gatherings and festivities.”

He further advised “the public to be law-abiding, and also nurture an active participation in community policing, so that they can be instrumental to the police in the fight against crime during the festive season and beyond.”

The CP assured that the command was actively ready for the festivities; hence, anyone with criminal intent would be squeezed out of the state.
