For Ugochukwu Ekwubiri, the orientation, character and resourcefulness of the youth of any country are some of the factors that define its future. According to him, youths cannot afford to sit on the fence because they are the life and future of Project Nigeria.

Ekwubiri said that many Nigerian youths are giving a good account of themselves all over the world, but there are those still in their shells not bothered or bothering about thefuture of the country.

He said, with hard work, dedication, planning, education and proper counselling, the future of youths of the land is bright.

Ekwubiri said: “Our youths cannot afford to sit on the fence; they cannot afford to stay aloof without participating in everything that concerns their country and wellbeing. Our youths should participate in the political process. The youths have the numbers to change the narrative. They should take away power from those who have been squandering the riches of our land over the years. Our youths ought not to participate in the rape of democracy.

“The days of your youth are the best days of your life. What you cannot get as a youth may be very difficult to achieve when you become frail with age.  Young men and women bouncing in good health, sound and creative minds should run the show henceforth.”

Ekwubiri, who vied to represent Oshodi Isolo Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of Labour Party, said he is an advocate of peace. “I believe in politics without bitterness. I don’t subscribe to people fighting over political offices. Politics or election should not be do or die. If actually you want to go and represent people, you should allow their will to prevail. You should not impose yourself on them.

“Again, young should not allow themselves to be used to create confusion or do any negative thing. You will be destroying your own future if you allow yourself to be used to destroy the peace of the land.”
