Teenagers who participated in this year’s Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp have described the experience as transformative, saying the program not only sharpened their skills but also gave them confidence on and off the court.
Fifteen-year-old John Oluwa Demilade Taiwo said the camp was an opportunity to identify and improve on his weaknesses. “This camp was a great experience actually. I was able to fix most of my weaknesses,” he said.
For Mofe Olatun, 16, the camp provided both learning and competition in a friendly environment. “It has been a very nice experience. I learned a lot, fixed a lot of my mistakes, and met new people. Overall, I’ve had very good competition here. It’s been a really conducive environment. All the coaches and everybody are very nice people. I highly recommend that more people should come for the camp,” he said.
Another participant, Apu Chinebere Divine, 14, stated the role of the coaches in his development. “I came to the camp to better my basketball skills and to learn how to be a good player. Since coming, I’ve learned how to dribble, defend, jab, attack, and shoot. Olumide Oyedeji is a good teacher, but he also gave credit to the coaches who trained us. This camp has helped us learn a lot. It was very exciting, especially during 5on5, 3on3, and 1on1 games,” he said with excitement.
The Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp, which has been running for over two decades, continues to provide young athletes with not just technical training but also a platform to build discipline, teamwork, and confidence in their basketball journey.
