Yobe holds second LGAs poll in 4 years

Yobe State on Saturday holds elections of chairmen and counselors into the 17 local government areas of the state.

It was the second election in four years. The last LGAs election was held on 27 Feb, 2021.

The Saturday election initially scheduled to hold on May 25 was postponed till June 8 by the State Independent Electrical Commission.

The election though generally peaceful, is marres by low turn-out of voters due to apathy, some voters told The Sun.

Yobe, situated in the northeast region, was created out of the old Borno State on 27th August, 1991 by the military administration.
