Yellow Card has announced it has secured $40 million in a strategic funding round aimed at accelerating its international expansion and strengthening its cross-border payment infrastructure.
The latest investment, backed by SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital and other strategic investors, brings the company’s total funding to more than $120 million.
According to the company, the fresh capital will be used to scale its Global USD Accounts, an end-to-end dollar account solution that enables businesses to hold U.S. dollars, manage treasury operations, swap stablecoins and send or receive payments through local payment rails in more than 50 countries.
Chief Executive Officer of SC Ventures, Alex Manson, said the investment reflects confidence in Yellow Card’s role in advancing stablecoin adoption through practical financial infrastructure.
“Stablecoins are here to stay, but their adoption will depend on robust infrastructure and clear real-world utility. Yellow Card is building those rails for businesses across Africa, enabling them to access and move value efficiently across markets. We believe Yellow Card is well positioned to scale across Africa and beyond and look forward to supporting its next phase of growth,” Manson said.
The investment also marks Sony Innovation Fund’s entry into supporting Yellow Card’s expansion, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region.
Managing Director of Sony Ventures-US, Austin Noronha, said the fund sees significant potential in the company’s infrastructure as demand for stablecoin-powered payments grows globally.

He noted that Yellow Card’s combination of application programming interfaces (APIs), local fiat payment rails, institutional-grade security and regulatory compliance positions it to bridge traditional finance with emerging digital payment systems.
Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Yellow Card, Chris Maurice, described the funding as a strong endorsement of the company’s long-term vision.
“This investment is a vote of confidence in what we’ve spent years building: the infrastructure that lets global businesses move money without traditional correspondent banking. The bigger opportunity now is connecting banks themselves to stablecoin rails, unlocking dollar access for millions of businesses that have been underserved by conventional financial systems,” Maurice said.
He added that the company aims to make global money movement as seamless as internet communications while helping financial institutions modernise cross-border payments.
Yellow Card said the Global USD Accounts are already being used by several multinational customers, including Visa and Western Union, enabling businesses to access U.S. dollar accounts, manage foreign exchange exposure and process local currency payments through domestic banking networks.
The company disclosed that it has facilitated more than $10 billion in transactions across its network, supports over 50 currencies and holds licences, authorisations and registrations in 22 jurisdictions spanning North America, Europe and Africa.
Yellow Card also maintains strategic partnerships with major global payment companies including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Coinbase as it continues expanding its stablecoin infrastructure across Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and other emerging markets.
