Xiamen Diamond League: Enekwechi finishes fifth in China

Nigeria’s shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi finished fifth in his opening event of the 2026 Diamond League season at the Xiamen Diamond League in China, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Enekwechi recorded a best throw of 21.14 metres in the men’s shot put event against a strong field of competitors.

Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell won the event with a national record throw of 22.34 metres, while American thrower Jordan Geist placed second with 21.52 metres.

World and Olympic champion Ryan Crouser settled for third position after throwing 21.41 metres, while fellow American Roger Steen finished fourth with 21.25 metres.

Despite missing out on the podium, Enekwechi’s performance marked a solid start to his Diamond League campaign as he continues preparations for major international competitions later in the season.
