XEJet Limited has commenced direct flight services between Abuja and Gusau, Zamfara State, with the inaugural flight arriving at Gusau International Airport on Monday.
The new route provides a direct air connection between the Federal Capital Territory and Zamfara State, with flights scheduled to operate twice weekly using the Embraer ERJ-145MP aircraft.
The inaugural flight departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 2pm and arrived safely at Gusau International Airport, where it was received by airport officials, state government representatives and other dignitaries.
Speaking ahead of the flight, General Manager of XEJet Express, Hamzat Bukar, said the new service would facilitate travel between Zamfara and other parts of the country.
Bukar said the route would support tourism, trade and cultural exchange while providing an additional travel option for business travellers, government officials and families.
“This service will make travel more accessible and convenient for business travellers, government officials, and families alike. We are committed to supporting the growth of the region and delivering the safe, reliable service our passengers expect,” he said.
He added that the launch formed part of the airline’s expansion across Africa, with further developments expected in the future.

Receiving the inaugural flight at Gusau International Airport, the airport’s Managing Director, Kabir Yahaya Gusau, expressed satisfaction with the successful launch and safe arrival of the aircraft.
“Today marks the first time Gusau International Airport has welcomed passengers, and I am delighted to say everything went smoothly,” he said.
Gusau thanked XEJet’s management for partnering with the airport and providing the people of Zamfara with an additional travel option.
The airline said the new service would further expand its domestic route network and connect Gusau with Abuja through scheduled commercial flights.
