As part of efforts to memorialize and advance the legacies of the founders of Wilson & Yinka Badejo Foundation (WYBF), Rev. Dr. Wilson & Rev. Mrs. Yinka Badejo, the Board of Trustees (BOT), has resolved to rename and announce that the foundation’s annual lecture event will now be known as the Wilson & Yinka Badejo Memorial Lecture.

The annual lecture series commenced in 2008, and has remained as the foundation’s annual flagship event.

In a release issued on Friday, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation, Rev Akin Akeju explained that the renaming to Wilson & Yinka  Badejo Memorial Lecture, will continue to serve as a platform for thought-provoking discussions, inspiring speakers, and meaningful dialogue on complex social and economic issues that have the potentials to drive positive change within our society.

He said it also ultimately serves as a fitting and lasting tribute to the vision, dedication, and tireless efforts of Wilson and Yinka Badejo, who laid the foundation for the organization’s impactful work.

“Their lifetime commitments, towards improving the lives of the less privileged, continue to inspire, bring hope and help to those who need it the most within our society. WYBF has received over 1000 scholarship applications from indigent students from various higher institutions of learning across the country since the application portal opened on March 15th, 2024. “

Akeju stated that this year’s scholarship application season is underway and advised that students viewing scholarship eligibility information or applying for the 2024 scholarships, should visit the website wybf.org.

“Meanwhile, after going through the selection process, including an interview, eligible awardees will be recognized and awarded with their scholarships during the 2024 Wilson and Yinka Badejo Memorial Lecture coming up on Wednesday August 7, 2024 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.”
