First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the nation’s commitment to eradicating malaria, urging sustained collaboration, increased domestic funding, and innovative strategies to combat drug resistance and healthcare inequities.

In a message marking World Malaria Day 2026, themed “United Against Malaria,” Mrs. Tinubu emphasised the urgent need for stronger prevention efforts and life-saving interventions.

“Today, on World Malaria Day, we reaffirmed our commitment to ending malaria and protecting the health of every individual,” she stated.

The First Lady called on all stakeholders to ensure equitable access to malaria prevention and treatment resources, particularly for vulnerable communities. “When we stand united, we can achieve a malaria-free world,” she declared, wishing Nigerians a “Happy World Malaria Day.”

Nigeria remains one of the world’s highest malaria-burden countries, with the disease claiming thousands of lives annually, especially among children and pregnant women.
