In line with the World Food Safety Week, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, in collaboration with the London Professional Training Centre, Lagos, hosted the International World Food Safety Workshop, with the themed: “Prepare for the Unexpected.”
The workshop brought together over 100 attendees and over 500 virtual participants across different states in Nigeria to discuss and address critical issues in food safety and preparation.
According to the convener, Dr. Malvis Humphrey, the workshop was aimed to raise awareness about the importance of food safety and to equip food handlers with the knowledge and skills needed to handle unexpected challenges in the food industry.
With a focus on best practices, emerging trends and innovative solutions, the workshop provided a platform for experts, policymakers and industry professionals to engage in meaningful discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
The event kicked off with a ceremony of market sensitisation in Lagos; school sensitisation was also carried out in two different schools in Lagos.
Key highlights of the workshop included interactive panel discussions, expert presentations, case studies, and hands-on demonstrations. Participants had the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, exchange ideas, and network with peers to enhance their understanding of food safety practices and protocols.
The workshop also featured keynote addresses from distinguished speakers, including representative from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Lagos Nigeria, and international organisations dedicated to promoting food safety and public health.
