The World Bank is considering adopting Katsina State’s Community Development Programme (CDP) as a model for grassroots development interventions in other states across Nigeria.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed this in a press statement issued by his aide on Tuesday, saying a recent World Bank delegation expressed satisfaction with the impact of the programme.
According to the statement, Radda said the community-based approach of the CDP had helped bridge the gap between government policies and residents, describing it as an effective mechanism for delivering government interventions at the grassroots.
The governor spoke at the inauguration of the Dikko Mai da Alkhairi da Alkhairi movement in Katsina, where he also highlighted reforms and projects being implemented by his administration.
Radda said his administration was pursuing leadership anchored on responsibility, reflection, authenticity and measurable results, with emphasis on security, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment and digital governance.
He cited the Community Watch Corps, healthcare expansion, road projects and more than N120 billion invested in education as some of the major interventions of his administration.
The statement said the governor also disclosed that Katsina had digitalised 118 ministries, departments and agencies, while monthly internally generated revenue had risen from over N400 million to more than N3 billion.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Executive Council approved a solar power intervention for 11 critical public facilities, with 20 megawatts expected to save the government about N7 billion.
The statement said Katsina had increased its power-generation capacity from zero to more than 30 megawatts and was targeting 70 megawatts by 2031.
The council also approved a monthly N10,000 allowance for 2,500 youths, construction works at two special model secondary schools and a grassroots football tournament.
Other approvals included the procurement of a Caterpillar asphalt paver for road maintenance and motorcycles for the 34 local government areas.
In the health sector, the council approved renovations and additional structures at general hospitals in Jibia, Batsari and Ingawa, while Bindawa Primary Health Centre will be upgraded to a Maternal and Child Hospital.
The governor’s aide said the developments formed part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen grassroots services, infrastructure, economic opportunities and public-sector delivery across Katsina State.
