Woman stabs co-wife to death in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command  has  arrested a woman for allegedly stabbing her co-wife to death over domestic dispute in Daura area of the state .

In a statement yesterday,Katsina state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO)DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the 25 years old suspect,Labaran, allegedly  confessed to committing the crime.

“A tragic incident occurred behind Dadi Primary School, Sabon Gari Area of Daura town, Daura Local Government , when a domestic dispute between co-wives escalated into a fatal confrontation.

“On May 24, 2025, at about 11pm, a report was received at the Sabon Gari Division through one Nasir Yusuf, their  husband, that he returned home from the market and found his first wife, Zainab Lawal, 30, lying in a pool of blood; she had been stabbed multiple times with a knife. Upon receipt of the report, the DPO led a team of operatives to the scene and subsequently rushed the victim to the  Federal Medical Centre, Daura, for medical attention, where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. “During  investigation, her co-wife,  Rabi’a Labaran, of the same address, was arrested in connection with the offence, where she confessed to the commission of the offence, stating that a misunderstanding with the deceased led to a scuffle  that resulted  to the tragic incident.

“Investigation is ongoing. The state Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, urges members of the public to shun all acts of domestic violence and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, instead, they should seek legal means for redress in cases of disputes.”
