A 38-year-old woman, Malia Elizabeth Nummerdor, has been arrested in Port Charlotte, Florida, United States, after her estranged husband found home surveillance video of her allegedly engaging in a sex act with their family dog.

According to People, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspect on charges of sexual activity involving animals.

Malia’s arrest affidavit reportedly stated that Erik Nummerdor made the allegation about his estranged wife in a Facebook post on September 11, which was reviewed by detectives from the Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Nummerdor said he had photographic and video evidence of the alleged conduct.

During questioning on September 14, he reportedly told detectives that he installed two surveillance cameras inside the residence at Punta Gorda in Southwest Florida, including in his bedroom, to find out who had been taking money from a coin container.

He said members of the household knew about the camera, which was visible and displayed a blinking red light.

Mr. Nummerdor said he stumbled on the alleged conduct while reviewing footage from the cameras.

He said he saw an adult female, whom he identified as his estranged wife Malia, engaging in sexual conduct with the family dog, Ranger.

According to him, Malia was nude from the waist down, positioned with the dog in a manner consistent with sexual activity.

He provided screenshots from the recordings to the Sheriff’s Office, the affidavit stated.

He also reportedly consented to giving the office access to a laptop containing the surveillance files.

Malia was questioned on Tuesday, September 15 concerning the footage.

According to the affidavit, she appeared impaired and told detectives she was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

After reviewing the footage depicting the alleged act, she reportedly admitted she was the individual recorded and the dog was hers.

According to a Wednesday statement, the Sheriff’s Office said Malia denied that any sexual activity took place “but could not provide a consistent explanation for what was seen on the camera.”

She also said the surveillance cameras were installed without her knowledge and the recordings were made in 2024.

She further claimed her estranged husband accessed her social media accounts without her knowledge to post images and videos and previously threatened her with the videos, the affidavit stated.

Malia was arrested on Wednesday and remains in the Charlotte County Jail on a $35,000 bond.

Sheriff Bill Prummell condemned the alleged act, saying no animal deserved such abuse.

Sexual activity involving animals is a second-degree felony under Florida law.
