The World Institute for Peace (WIP) has announced plans to train five million youth peace advocates across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In a statement released on Friday, the Executive Director of WIP, Ambassador Lamina Omotoyosi, said the initiative titled: ‘Peace Revolution’, was designed to equip young Nigerians with the skills and knowledge necessary to foster a safer and more cohesive nation.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration from prominent figures like a lawyer and entrepreneur, Mr Seyi Tinubu, and organisations like the Noella Foundation.  He also called for their continued support, towards enhancing national unity.

Omotoyosi noted that their support would significantly bolster youth empowerment and long-term peace-building efforts in the country.

“We are not waiting for peace; we are creating it. This initiative is about people power, not politics. Our mission is to cultivate a generation that values dialogue over violence, unity over hate, and hope over fear,” he said.

He stated that the peace revolution aligns with the Nigerian government’s on-going initiatives to combat insecurity and promote sustainable peace.

“Through education, leadership development, and grassroots engagement, the programme aims to establish a nationwide network of young peace advocates, who can transform conflict-prone communities through dialogue and social responsibility.”

Omotoyosi clarified that the initiative is not seeking financial donations but instead requires support in the form of essential tools and materials.
