Wife of Edo governor cautions UNIBEN SUG executives against act capable of disrupting academic pursuits

Wife of Edo State governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, yesterday, cautioned the newly elected executives of the Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) against involving in activities that could disrupt academic pursuits.

She gave the advice while receiving the SUG’s executives who were on a curtsey call on her in her office in Benin City.

The Executives were led by its President, Alpha King Lemuel.

Addressing the newly elected Executives, Mrs.Obaseki emphasized the crucial role of responsible leadership and urging the SUG representatives to align with the intended purpose of their roles.

“I’m pleased to meet you, and it is imperative that your actions do not deviate from the intended purpose of your roles.

“Strive to guide your fellow students away from the culture of violence and disruption”, Mrs. Obaseki advises.

Earlier, the SUG’s President, Alpha King Lemuel affirmed their dedication to the ongoing collaboration with the state government for the welfare of the students community.

He underscored their commitment to building on existing structures and initiating endeavours that would not only benefit the university but also extend positive impacts to the state and contribute at the national level.

Acknowledging the warm reception, Vice President Allison Nafisat expressed gratitude to the wife of the governor and affirmed their commitment to maintaining a sustained relationship.

She recognized the governor’s wife as a mother figure to the students community, assuring that the values of collaboration and support would be upheld.

“The visit exemplifies a strong commitment to collaborative efforts for student welfare and emphasizes the importance of open communication and shared responsibility among the student’s leadership to realize these aspirations”,Nafisat said.
