NEW kid on the block, Ashflame, is dreaming big, he wants a collabo with Tuface Idibia. In this chat, the Ondo State-born singer talks about his debut single, Se Ko Si, and his journey into the world of music. Excerpts:

How would you describe your sound? It is Afro pop but I am not restricted to that genre but I believe that it is my own selling point. When did you professionally start music? I started at the age of 23 though I had been doing music since I was 18.

What is the message in the latest single, Se Ko Si? Se Ko Si talks more about my lifestyle and where I was coming from including my challenges. The response has been great. I believe the timing is perfect.

Which artistes influenced your music style? I listened to more of Jazz while I was growing up. I also listened to a lot of Tuface. 2 Baba is a living legend and I adore him.

How do you get inspiration for your music? Basically from my background, my environment and the streets.

Can anything make you to give up on music? Nothing because over the years I faced a lot of terrible challenges but I stuck to my guns determined to achieve my dreams. Who is your celebrity crush? Cynthia Morgan.

What would you do if you were behind closed doors with Cynthia? I don’t know but it would be a lot of ash and flames; fire will burn (laughter).

Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself being a source of inspiration for other artistes and the youths. I see myself giving back to the society. If you can grow a business for five years, you can expect that brand to have a stand and at the same time give back to the society.

Tell us an artist you would love to collaborate with? Tuface has a way of touching lives with his music. He is a prophet and I already have a song for him. Working with a person like that will positively affect my music.
