ProTaxi, an e-hailing platform powered by electric vehicles, has commenced operations in Abuja, with plans to deploy 1,000 vehicles and onboard drivers.
The service was unveiled at an event in Abuja on Thursday, attended by stakeholders, including Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Transportation and Mobility.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of PromiseLand Innovation, Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, said the initiative was designed to provide transportation services while creating income opportunities for drivers.
He said the platform was established to use technology to improve livelihoods and provide drivers with opportunities to support their families.
“Today, we introduce a ProTaxi that is not just another e-hailing application. It is a platform that creates opportunity and changes destiny,” Oloche said.
He added that the income drivers earn from the service could help them meet family needs, including school fees and house rent.
Oloche said the initiative was intended to create opportunities for thousands of drivers and their families.
He also said the service would provide Nigerians with an alternative means of transportation through electric mobility.
Also speaking, Gift Emmanuel, Executive Director of PromiseLand Estate, said the initiative had commenced in Abuja, with plans to expand to other states.
“The vision is to help the masses. And, at least, he’s here in Abuja now, and we are moving to other states to help other people too,” she said.
Ade-John commended the initiative, saying it aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for the transportation and mobility sector.
The commencement of operations adds an electric vehicle-based service to the Abuja’s e-hailing market.
