We want balanced youths – Michael Nwoseh, Specialist, Youth Segment, Etisalat

One of Nigeria’s leading innovative and youth-centric brands, Etisalat Nigeria stepped up its strategic engagement with Nigerian youth. The telecommunications company has kicked off the 2016 edition of its pan-Nigeria multi-campus initiative, Cliqfest, which has berthed at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The campus activation, which focuses on education, sports and entertainment began with a motivational session anchored by Niyi Adesanya, who spoke on the theme: “Activate your Dreams,” as he provided the students with practical tips on how to succeed in their desired careers. The second day, which was a mixture of fun and excitement featured a football tournament, dance competitions, rap battles and a music concert, featuring the Alaga Ibile rapper, Reminisce, the Egberi papa master, Timaya, and Nigerian Idol 4 & 5 winners, Evelle and K-Peace, who delighted the students with wonderful renditions of their songs.

The high point of the two-day activation was the emergence of Daniel Nfon Bassey, a 100-level student of Biochemistry as the winner of the star prize, a brand new Hyundai i10.

An elated Daniel said: “I left home this morning and joked with my mum that I would come home with the car. Words cannot explain how I feel at the moment. I want to thank Etisalat for bringing this show to the University of Uyo, which has given me the opportunity to win this wonderful gift.”

Speaking on the campus initiative, Michael Nwoseh, Specialist, Youth Segment, said the programme had visited over 70 tertiary institutions. “Our goal is to motivate all-round development in our students. We want our youths to be balanced, connected and in touch with the ever-changing career turns, social trends and lifestyles. Cliqfest connects with our core values of care and optimism expressed in an innovative, yet simple manner,” he said.

Cliqfest is powered by Etisalat’s youth package, EasyCliq, a product tailored to suit the lifestyles and communication needs of young people and offers unique features, including bonus-on-incoming calls, cliq for the week, unlimited SMS, free midnight calls, Facebook updates by SMS and MMS and lots more.

The programme provided an opportunity for strategic engagement with the youth market segment and is aimed at exposing Nigerian students to business and relationship skills, encouraging them to pursue their dreams by helping them identify their passion, which is crucial for long term success in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Promasidor honours staff with long service awards

Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell, Onga, Toptea and Loya,has rewarded some of its members of staff, who have served the company in the last 10, 15 and 20 years.

In his welcome remarks at the Long Service Awards held at the company’s headquarters in Isolo, Lagos, Olivier Thiry, Managing Director, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, said the occasion was meant to appreciate the commitment and contributions of the affected members of staff over the period of time they have worked with the company.

Thiry said it was commendable for one to work with an organisation for up to 10 years. His words: “The high quality of your service is part of the factors that Promasidor rides on from inception to its current level. I promise you all, Promasidor will continue to explore every available avenue to make your continued service more enjoyable and rewarding.”

He stated that the reward to the affected employees was just a token from the management to the dedicated and committed employees who strive to place the company ahead of competitors in the market.

His words: “This is just a gesture to reciprocate your support for the organisation over the years. Without your invaluable commitment, there would not be Promasidor. The management considers today as a memorable day in the life of all the affected employees and in our corporate life”.

Felicia Adagba, one of the awardees, who has served the company for 20 years, disclosed that when she joined Promasidor she never envisaged that it would take her so long to work with the company. She, however, gave thanks to God as she said in spite of occasional challenges at work; she got encouragement from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that Promasidor would grow.

On whether she plans to switch to another job so soon, Adagba said except there is an instruction from the Holy Spirit to do that she was not in any hurry to leave Promasidor.

Corroborating her views, Chibuzor Iwueke, another awardee in the 15-year category; said the conducive environment provided by the management of Promasidor for its employees coupled with the friendly interpersonal relationship existing amongst staff boosts one’s commitment to service. His words: “Employees working in Promasidor freely relate with one another just like family members. The management complements this with good welfare package for all members of staff. All what I can tell you is that this is an ideal place to work.”
