Kebbi State Government has noted that the huge amount of money expended from May 29,2023 to date by the administration of Dr Nasir Idris, the Governor of the state was designed to drastically reduce the suffering of the people of the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi stated this at a Press Briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
He said glaring facts have revealed that the administration of Governor Idris has succeeded in transforming Kebbi State in various sectors of human endeavour.
According to him, “the administration, has contrary to insinuations by the opposition, the administration of Governor Nasir Idris has lived above board in its desire to take the state to greater heights.
‘ “For instance, to mitigate the suffering of the people of the state due to the present economic situation, has bought assorted grains of more than N12 billion and distributed free to all communities.
“The gesture would be a routine one aimed at improving the livelihood of all residents in the state”, he said.
The Commissioner said that Kebbi State Government should be commended for distribution of the palliatives to all the categories of beneficiaries, irrespective of political or religious affinity.
On food security, Yakubu explained that tangible efforts and measures have been implemented by Governor Idris led administration in bolstering food security and ensuring that the people of the state do not go hungry.
He said that the administration has spent huge amount of money on the purchase of assorted farm inputs and implements and distributed same free to the farmers across the state, the Commissioner said.
The Commissioner explained that the gesture, which was also an ongoing one was directly linked to the Governor’s desire to boost food security.
Yakubu stated that the governor has also left no stone unturned in ensuring the timely payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and an array of other benefits to the workers and retirees alike.
“In the light of the above, Kebbi State Is among the few states that is not owing its workers salaries or other emoluments,including the payment of the 2024 leave grant to workers.
“On security, the state government has been doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed.
‘”The governor, has among other efforts donated several logistics including vehicles and funds to the various security agencies and vigilantes to facilitate their efforts to safeguard the lives and property of the people.
He called on the opposition and naysayers to stop the campaign of calumny against the Dr Nasir Idris-led administration in order to allow the governor concentrate on the people’s oriented projects he has already started.
“The ongoing futile campaigns of calumny against the Dr. Nasir Idris led administration will continue to hit the rock and amount to no effect because his doggedness, piety, patriotism, transparency and accounbility have remained unparalleled in the history of Kebbi State.
‘ “Such unending ferocious campaigns by some unrepentant cynics and diabolical critics attempting to link the state government to the recent looting of Dangote palliatives will also be futile as it is not complicit in anyway possible.
‘” And the recent self-imposed free-willed resignation of the Chief Imam of Wala Jumaat Mosque will also fail as he did so out of his volition.
“Indeed, the administration of Dr Nasir Idris has achieved a lot in a jiffy and the people of the state are the judges in this direction”, he said.
