The All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday said it will challenge the July 16 governorship election in Osun State at the tribunal.
The chairman of the party in Osun, Prince Gboyega Famodun, disclosed this at a meeting with members of the party in Osogbo, the state capital.
The APC chairman stated that lawyers have assured them that they have a good case, saying they are ready to challenge the election.
Famous disclosed that a committee has been put in place to investigate the anti-party activities of the former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and his allies, saying that they would be disciplined in line with the constitution of the party as soon as the ward chairmen submit their report.
“We know you were all familiar with the copious public outbursts of Aregbesola where he openly campaigned against the re-election of Governor Oyetola where he threatened to give the sitting governor an Ambode treatment at different fora in ljebu-Jesa, Iwo, Osogbo and Gbongan, all in Osun State, before our party’s primary elections at all its statutory levels in the state.
“We are going to the tribunal and our lawyers have let us know that we have a good case,” Famodun added.
They subsequently passed a vote of confidence on Governor Oyetola and the party chairman, Famodun, to continue in their work.
