From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha
Mr Emeka Onwudinjo, the Managing Director, Solution Smart Estate Limited, a fast rising real estate development company, has counselled property owners to embark more in building homes instead of banking land despite the rising cost of building materials in the country presently.
Speaking in Awka during the activities marking the one year anniversary of the company, Onwudinjo encouraged Ndi Anambra to invest more in owning affordable homes
He said the anniversary was marked to remind the organization that they were one year gone and still on the move of building houses and encouraging people to own homes through the national housing mortgage plan rather than land acquisition.
“Land acquisition was good but not everyone can save for long number of years to acquire a land and build a home. We decided to take the responsibility of getting the land and building the house and selling back to people including low income earners on affordable price”
“Saving to own a land doesn’t give you shelter, it is just a property that most times than not, the people tend to sell back without achieving their dreams of owing a house” he said.
The MD maintained that they have made significant progress of changing the mindset of Ndi Anambra from land banking system to owning a home as they were currently building a 121 housing unit to reduce housing deficiency thereby creating a liveable environment in the state.
He however lamented that the hike in building materials was a serious problem as many developers tend to back down but that won’t stop the estate from constructing affordable houses for the masses.
Earlier in his remark, the site engineer, Engr. Tony Muonyelu describing the journey so far, stated that in a space of one year they have many buildings established across the country and poised to achieve greater things as they were committed to making property ownership dreams come true.
He further advised people to key into owning a home through their own income or pay as they earn through the mortgage scheme.
The estate intend to have a closed fenced perimeter round with modern facilities such as tarred road, water supply, electricity, recreation centre, clinic and shopping complex.
The event was graced by well wishers including clients and Managing Directors (MD’s) of corporate organizations from far and wide
