Wase Emirate Council denies endorsing Lalong for Senate

Long

Former governor, Simon Lalong

From Jude Dangwam, Jos

Wase Emirate Council has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that the Emir of Wase, Alhaji Sambo Haruna III, has endorsed former governor, Simon Lalong, for his 2027 senatorial election bid

The Council said it found the report disturbing considering the fact that the Emir is a father to all and extends royal blessings to every individual who visits the palace, irrespective of political affiliation.

The Council stressed that “such a gesture by the Royal Father should not be misconstrued as a political endorsement, as the Royal Father is neither a politician nor a card-carrying member of any political party.”

The Council therefore wishes to distance itself and the Royal Father from the purported endorsement of any particular candidate.

The Council believes that such reports have the tendency to create unnecessary animosity among the peace-loving people of Plateau State, especially at a time when the state is gradually overcoming security challenges experienced in the recent past.

The Wase Emirate Council further advised politicians and their supporters to conduct their political activities with decorum and responsibility in the overall interest of peace, unity, and development of Plateau State.
