In Nigerian and African broadcasting, Wale Fakile has emerged as one of the most recognizable voices in impactful storytelling. As Senior Presenter and Lead Anchor of Gist Nigeria, the BBC’s flagship co production in Africa, Fakile is redefining how stories from Nigeria and the continent are told, shared, and remembered.

Since its launch in 2019, Gist Nigeria has reached more than a million weekly viewers across Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. It blends investigative reporting, expert analysis, and human interest stories to engage a younger, digitally savvy audience. Fakile’s style is more than reporting facts. He crafts narratives that connect emotionally, particularly by amplifying the voices of youth, women, and underserved communities across Nigeria and Africa.

Through Gist Nigeria, Fakile has become a bridge between cultures, elevating Nigerian and African traditions while interrogating pressing issues of governance, technology, and development. His coverage often shines a global spotlight on grassroots innovation and cultural trailblazers shaping the continent’s identity.

Beyond broadcasting, Wale Fakile Fakile is building platforms that extend his impact. Through Rach. Gabriels, his bespoke fashion house, he created Project Centum, an ambitious five year program training and equipping 100 indigent youths annually in shoemaking and entrepreneurship. The program melds craftsmanship, culture, and empowerment into sustainable economic change.

Fakile believes storytelling is one of Nigeria and Africa’s most powerful tools for transformation.
“Authentic stories do not just inform. They inspire action, preserve culture, and create the future we imagine,” he says.

By merging credibility with creativity, Wale Fakile is amplifying Nigerian and African voices and reshaping the global perception of the continent, proving that thoughtful storytelling can be both a cultural force and a catalyst for progress.
