As preparations gather pace for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering strong, organised, and visible support for Nigeria’s women’s national team, drawing lessons from its recent experience at AFCON 2025.

Fresh from a successful outing at the men’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles clinched a bronze medal, ANFASSC says the tournament further underscored the decisive role of organised supporters in shaping team morale and matchday atmosphere — a factor it believes will be crucial at WAFCON.

Throughout AFCON 2025, the supporters’ club maintained a disciplined and coordinated presence, deploying structured chants, cultural displays, and responsible conduct that projected Nigeria positively across the continent. According to the group, these same standards will guide its engagement at WAFCON as attention turns fully to the Super Falcons.

ANFASSC noted that the conclusion of the last WAFCON tournament, alongside observations from the recent AFCON final, highlighted a clear gap in supporter mobilisation at major women’s competitions. The club stressed that large, visible supporter numbers can significantly influence performance, particularly in high-pressure matches.

In response, ANFASSC is advocating for an expanded and deliberate mobilisation strategy ahead of WAFCON Morocco, targeting between 400 and 500 organised supporters to back Nigeria’s women’s team. The group believes this level of support would not only boost on-pitch confidence but also enhance Nigeria’s image as a football powerhouse that values both its men’s and women’s teams equally.

The supporters’ club also pointed to examples from other African nations, where organised supporter groups have received national recognition for their contributions, reinforcing the idea that fans serve as cultural ambassadors as well as morale drivers.

ANFASSC acknowledged the cooperation of the National Sports Commission and other stakeholders during AFCON 2025, noting that the relationships built will be instrumental in planning for WAFCON.

The group also credited its president, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, for providing visible leadership and projecting Nigerian culture with pride throughout the AFCON campaign.

With WAFCON Morocco on the horizon, ANFASSC says it is already considering early planning, stakeholder engagement, and structured mobilisation to ensure disciplined and energetic support for the Super Falcons.

The club maintains that the AFCON 2025 experience provides a strong foundation for improved coordination and impact, as it continues its mission to support Nigerian national teams — especially the women’s side — with unity, purpose, and national pride on the continental stage.
